A sad day.

Monday, January 21st, 2013

We have some very sad news.

Our beautiful Diabo was peacefully put to sleep this afternoon. He made it to the grand old age of 28, but his legs could no longer keep up with him.

We first met Diabo when he was a wild five-year-old stallion in Portugal. His utter beauty and immense presence captured us instantly and we fell in love with him, so we went about bringing him back to Turville to start his training. It was evident right from the start that he was something special. The most intelligent of horses, he learnt everything so quickly and his movements were breath taking. As he performed, he appeared to float with grandeur and effortlessness that proved to be unmatchable not only to the innocent eye, but also in competition.

Well done to Samantha for getting on the World Class Program for 2013-2015. She is currently based at Carl Hesters yard in Gloucestershire  so this is a very exciting time for her with access to the best trainers and support team in the world.

Sunday Evening Countryfile

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

Samantha may be on telly on Sunday evening.
Countryfile, BBC 1 at 6pm is covering Gloucestershire and filmed on Carl Hesters yard. Samantha was busy working on the yard so you may catch a glimpse…. a good bit of TV anyway 🙂

Samantha to ride at National convention.

Thursday, November 22nd, 2012
Samantha is going to to ride at The  National Dressage convention this weekend.
She is working for Carl Hester and he  asked her to ride Golly (Dancing With Wolves) in his part of his demonstration. This is the horse that Carl won the Inter I and PSG titles with at this years Nationals!  Samantha rode Pascal there last year, so to ride there two years running is amazing. Hope it goes well Samantha…do us proud!

Samantha gets a golden opportunity!

Thursday, November 8th, 2012
Samantha was recently offered a job with Carl Hester for a couple of weeks while one of his grooms were on holiday. It went so well she was asked to stay! She is involved with all mucking out, grooming, putting horses on horse walker, leading Valegro, (who doesn’t go on the walker), tack cleaning and the best bit riding! She gets the horses ready and warms them up for Carl. Being able to ride such wonderful horses she is a very lucky girl!
Meanwhile Pascal has gone to Hartbury college, (after having had 6 weeks off work with a heel strain) to work on the water treadmill.  Samantha can go and see him as he is very close to Carl’s and hopefully if all goes well he will  join her in January.
We do miss having her at home with us in the yard but this is a job not to turn down!
